Sarah Bharath and Didi Pershouse: Plotting and Planning about Cocoa/Cacao Education...and our workshop this Friday!

Why I love my work: An inside view into the kind of conversation that inspires me.

Sarah Bharath—a cacao scientist and educator from Trinidad and Tobago—arrived in my course and instantly stood out as someone I wanted to get to know better. She took my Soil Sponge and Living Climate class more than once, and has adopted some of my tools, premises, and attitudes, but has been a phenomenal educator in her own right for many years.

We were talking a couple of weeks ago and in the middle of it we both decided it was an exciting enough conversation that we should record it. It’s just recorded from her end, and I’m speaking through my crappy replacement computer, so my voice is very crackly. (Luckily it’s mostly Sarah!)

If you want to learn with Sarah, we have an introductory workshop coming up this Friday, December 12th, 2025 called “Cacao, Chocolate, and Right Relationships within (and with) the Natural World.”

The next Soil Sponge and Living Climate: Growing Resilience to Flooding, Drought, Heatwaves and Fire workshop starts February 3rd. Sign up now for Early Bird Rates.
